Being mindful means brain power, thought, awareness having a conversation with ourselves and with others. Getting connected. Again the list could go on.
Lets consider some definitions of Thought and how the brain functions:
- What is the purpose of thought? Definition: The purpose of thinking is to understand our world as best as possible. Our minds have evolved to think so that we can better adapt to our environment and make smarter decisions on how to survive, live and flourish. At the biological level, our thoughts are millions of neurons firing off in our brains (connection).
- How does thought process work? Definition: When a thought occurs an electrical signal passes back and forth between the various neurons responsible for that thought. The brain is always trying to become more efficient. So every time 2 cells communicate, the brain builds a connection that makes it easier for them to do so in the future.
Here is 6 ways to implement staying focused.
- Become best friends with your emotional guidance system ….
- Listen to your body …..
- Find your own stop sign or limit …….
- Think of words as healthy nutrition (affirmations) whether its form you, friends or family ….
- Watch, read, participate, listen to positive enriching material that produce healthy thought ……
- Take out the trash!! Yep know when to empty the trash!!!
So here I am again the Pilates instructor. One of best part of getting myself going a bit more positive, was using mindfulness that Pilates taught me in being focused on what my mind was thinking as I was learning new exercises. This encouraged my mind/body connection.
