PRESSURE VS STRESS
Pressure is a situation in which you perceive that something at stake is dependent on the outcome of your performance. Stress refers to the situation of too many demands and not enough resources.
PRESSURE EXAMPLES
- Be aware of and understand High Achievement vs. Perfectionism. Just do your best. Use the Emotional Intelligence guide, observe yourself, allow yourself to feel, don’t stuff emotions, and be keenly aware of your situations
- Try to lead a Balanced Life. Getting enough exercise, sleep, and nurturing relationships. Do self-check-ins, at the end of your day at the end of your week.
STRESS EXAMPLES
On your body On your Mood On your Behavior
Headache Anxiety Overeating/undereating
Muscle tension/pain Restlessness Angry Outbursts
Fatigue Feeling Overwhelmed Drug/Alcohol misuse
THREE BASIC NEEDS WHILE DEALING WITH PRESSURES AND STRESSORS:
- LOVE Learn to Love yourself starts: Jot down those HEART-felt moments when you felt at peace, joy, warm, complete, or valued; name the event, situation, (school course, movie, music, an activity, something you drew or wrote, something you learned that was new and encouraged you to be stronger, wiser). Avoid many material things, overworking, underworking, drugs, alcohol, self-condemnation, etc. We are all familiar with the lists. Get down to YOUR special heart, listen and learn (Please keep out self-criticism), and embrace.
- LAUGH It’s true: Laughter is strong medicine. It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. It’s real “Giggle Away”!
- BREATH DEEPLY, WHILE SITTING STILL with IMAGERY OF A PEACEFUL PLACE or REAL This is your self-reflection time, some say it’s soul searching, meditation, or reaching higher for help, as in a Prayer.
I hope that in this post you can integrate some of these life changers. Please reach out and include some of the tools that have helped you. Never let go of yourself!
